Doors at Haci-Baktas Monastery in Turkey

I minded my 6 month old grandson Jaska for the first time yesterday while his Mum was working. I had him from 10am until 4pm and although he was happy enough he only slept for a little over an hour, so I had no time for my usual activities. I will be having him each Friday until I go on holidays at the end of August. We did manage to get in a short walk but the weather in Sunbury is quite cool at the moment and rain was threatening so I didn't want to venture too far.
Today I have been to a "Christmas in July" Gala luncheon. These 'Christmas in July' themes are quite popular in Australia as it is often too hot in December for the traditional Christmas dinner. Even the supermarkets get into the theme by having turkey, mince pies and plum puddings on sale during July!
I have time to add a few more doors tonight.

The Baktashi Dervishes are a Muslim sect but they have many Christian tenets as well

There is a different door at each entrance to the monastery complex

I tricked Blogger - or did it trick me?

Writing a blog of my own has worked! I an finally able to get onto Blogger on my iPad. I think it was a bit sneaky of Blogger to make me write a blog!! For several years I have been reading (and following) several blogs, mainly travel related; but I never wanted to write one as I don't live an especially interesting life. I may continue this one until I return from a holiday in Eastern Europe at the beginning of October. It will give me time to put on the photos of doors that I have taken on other holidays. My camera is just a Cannon powershot 720 so detail is not as good as the photos from an expensive camera.

My first blog and first photos of doors.

I have created this blog because I am finding it impossible to get onto a blog on my new iPad and I thought it maybe because I have never written anything, just read the blogs of others who interest me. Starting in 2010 I began to photograph interesting doorways when on holidays. I should also remember to do that while I am travelling around the Melbourne, Australia area where I live. I will add a couple of the first photos of doors that I began to take while in Turkey.

These three doors are from the village of Cumalikizik in Turkey
